Tee time: women’s style, Augusta National traditions & the Masters Gnome

The Skinny: With The Masters practice rounds commencing tomorrow, and Augusta National in bloom, we’re taking a shot at golf this week with the traditions of the sport’s most prestigious event. Naturally, we’re looking through the lens of fitness, fashion and food & drink.

Fitness/health: With the WSJ reporting last fall that “women are golfing in record numbers since 2020,” and Nelly Korda claiming seven victories last year (and sister Jessica recently announcing her comeback for 2026), women’s golf is having a moment. In fact, the National Golf Foundation says that there are now 7 million female golfers in the U.S., which represents 25% of the total on-course. Grab your bag and get out there, and let’s grow that number (for men and women), since the perks of golfing extend beyond the obvious (socializing & getting outside), to potential mental health and longevity benefits.

Fashion: For female patrons at The Masters, planning your outfits—from the right shade of green to comfort-first shoes and not-too-revealing skirts (plus, a bag that fits the size requirements)—requires creativity and focus. Here, a style guide from Golf Digest for inspiration whether you’re attending or not.

Jill’s hometown favorite Ladies Only Golf was founded In Telluride by Jennifer Ogilvie and Sutton Schuler in 2020 to fill a major gap in the game: fashion-forward golfwear made just for women. They’re got a full range of clothing for scratch golfers and/or mini golf and prosecco players. Jill’s go-to is the Flutter Skirt (on sale!). Another brand to try (for men and women) is our friends at Greyson Clothiers, who just dropped their “Garden of Thieves” Masters-inspired capsule collection and recently announced Jessica Korda (above) as ambassador.

For men: don’t even think about donning a sub-par fit, because there are a slew of rules for male patrons—the quirkiest of which are here and straight from the players (our favorite, as we learned from Nicole’s dad: you must wear socks while sitting down to eat). Her stepmother also had a hot tip: everyone gets excited to snap up the famous merch at the gift shop (and, this year’s Masters Gnome has been revealed!), and will often shop on arrival. However, your exuberance has a cost—this means carting around your haul for the rest of the day. Do as she does, and shop as you depart.  For the guys, Golf Monthly takes a more technical look at the best new innovations in polos (with UV protection, anti-odor, moisture-wicking properties and more).

Food & Bev:  Augusta National’s food and concession traditions are always a trending topic for the media this week, teeing off with Augusta National’s famous Pimento Cheese Sandwich. The Masters concession pricing is apparently inflation proof, and it turns out the last price change was 2002, when the Egg Salad and Pimento Sandwiches went from $1.25 to $1.50, where they remain today. P.S: They also have Peach Ice Cream Sandwiches.

Finally, to file under “next year”: Goldbelly offered a “Taste of the Masters” kit this year but, unsurprisingly, it’s sold out. Click anyway, since it includes a fascinating “History of the Masters Concessions” video, with players loading up on a “whole day’s worth of food” for $12 and another who honors his deceased caddy every year by placing a Pimento Cheese Sandwich on a bench.

If you want to DIY with us, here’s how to make the Pimento Cheese Sandwich, and their signature cocktail, the🍒Masters Azalea 🍋:

  • ½ c lemonade

  • 1 shot grenadine

  • 1 shot vodka

  • Lemon wedge and cherry garnish

  • Pour it all in a cocktail shaker with ice, shake it up, pour and enjoy!

In the stars

Mercury in retrograde, Zodiac snacking

Looking to the stars. Photo by Jeremy Thomas for Unsplash.

The Skinny: Yep. When Mercury appears to move backward in the sky (it’s an illusion, but the chaos is real), it’s known to mess with communication, travel, and tech. Think: lost texts, delayed flights, and oopsie “reply alls.” But it’s not all bad — this can be the perfect time to pause, reflect, and reset.

If you like to get lost in the stars and the mysteries of the planets, we have covered this previously with astrologer Jaclyn LaRosa, whose bottom line is: “If the moon can control something as large as the ocean, the movement of the planets is probably something we should approach with an open mind. Slow down, take a lot of deep breaths, and read the fine print.” The most important point to remember, says Jaclyn, is that it’s a natural part of the process and that we need time for revision and observation.

Hence, an opportune moment to discover new snacks that align with your sign. And these aren’t just any snacks: ofc we’re hoping you’ll find your new obsession, both star- and taste-aligned.

♈️Aries (March 21 – April 19): Trader Joe’s Ghost Pepper Potato Chips – Take flavor by the horns with these chips that are bold and fiery—to match your ruler, Mars. Devour with determination.

♉️Taurus (April 20 – May 20): Chuao Chocolatier Potato Chip Chocolate Bar – a handcrafted, luxurious blend of sweet and salty. Because Taurus would never be seen with anything but the sexiest and most beautiful, and that includes their choice of chocolate bar.

♊️Gemini (May 21 – June 20): Smoked Salmon Candy from Alaska – Is it fish, or candy? This unexpected combination’s dual nature is here to satisfy your curious palate.

♋️Cancer (June 21 – July 22): Doughlicious – As the emotional puddle of the signs (in a good way), but also one of the most creative, you can drown your sorrows in these uniquely delicious cookie dough + gelato bites—or serve them at a party to showcase your originality.

♌️Leo (July 23 – August 22): Lay’s Flamin’ Hot Dill Pickle Chips – First off, the bag is yellow, a natural call of the wild for lions. With dramatic, bold flavors that demand attention, just like a Leo, these are the King of the Snack Aisle.

♍️Virgo (August 23 – September 22): Tom’s Original Toastchee Crackers – A classic and reliable snack, with a bit of protein, that appeals to your practical side. Plus, look how nice and neat and organized they look in the box.

♎️Libra (September 23 – October 22): Lady M Mille Crêpes Cake from Goldbelly – Elegant and harmonious layers reflect your appreciation for beauty.

♏️Scorpio (October 23 – November 21): Momofuku Chili Crunch Hot Honey – Intensely flavorful and sexy, with a hint of mystery, much like yourself.

♐️Sagittarius (November 22 – December 21): Zapp’s Voodoo Chips – A unique, adventurous flavor that satisfies your wanderlust. Because no one knows where these voodoo chips’ flavor comes from, nor where they’ll take you.

♑️Capricorn (December 22 – January 19): Lyden  Bakery Almond Sticks – Simple, traditional, and dependable to align with your disciplined taste. Let nothing stand in your way while enjoying these snacks.

♒️Aquarius (January 20 – February 18): Calbee Shrimp Chips – You are creative, unconventional and intriguing, so eating plain old potato chips is simply not on brand with your eclectic preferences. Shrimp chips are the answer.

♓️Pisces (February 19 – March 20): Ube Mochi Ice Cream – This dreamy, sweet treat resonates with your imagination. It’s the secret affair of desserts.

Clearing out

Declutter spoiler: it’s not about perfection

The Skinny: One of our favorite subscribers, Georgi—from Simplify with Georgi—is back with Part 3 of her “declutter your life” series, and this one hits deep.

Even the prettiest organizing system will fail if your mindset doesn’t shift along with it. Along those same lines, we always remember a piece of advice: when decluttering, the solution is never to start by buying a bunch of bins from the Container Store. You can’t expect lasting change if you’re still holding on to perfectionism, guilt, or that dusty bread maker from 2015. Here’s the takeaway: the secret to staying organized isn’t more willpower — it’s building systems that work with your habits (not against them). Try this today:

  • Pick one daily routine (like your morning coffee)

  • Notice your natural habits

  • Remove one item that adds friction

  • Question any “shoulds” in your space

  • Release something you’re only keeping “just in case”

Want more mindset shifts, micro-wins, and clutter-clearing magic? Georgi’s offering free strategy sessions for The Skinny readers and tons more wisdom at simplifywithgeorgi.com. Let’s show her some love!

Sunday cooking with The Skinny

The Skinny: We made (and loved) this Roasted Fennel, Red Onion and Orange Salad a couple weeks ago and it’s got a swicy kick when you drizzle it with chili pepper (we prefer Corto’s, made with the Agrumato-Method). Yes, don’t @ us because we know fennel is a winter thing. But it’s still pretty cold out and, with the sweetness from the citrus, we’re claiming this as a seasonal crossover.
