Better with butter
Breakfast is for any time of day

The Skinny: Turns out, Americans love their breakfasts — so much so, that in a recent survey from Challenge Butter, 86% of respondents enjoy breakfast for dinner. To quote the press release, “the love affair with breakfast doesn’t end at sunrise,” with findings showing that breakfast is often transformed into meals for every time of the day. Further, in another twist, three-fourths of those surveyed had eaten dinner leftovers for breakfast.
Let’s put this into practice!
Eliminating/decreasing food waste is a never-ending, daily challenge, so when you find creative uses for leftovers for a breakfast-for-dinner meal, this is a major win. From the Challenge Butter website, we found this Bourbon Glazed Ham and Pear Waffle recipe that perfectly fits the bill.
Jill has made these soy marinated and savory “Drunken Eggs” and these just scream to be eaten literally anytime, and for various occasions.
If you are drunk, everyone knows that chef-ing up a sloppy, butter-laden pan of eggs when you get home is the best defense against a raging hangover. Here, the BBC explains the science behind why.
These cannabis gummies keep selling out in 2024

The Skinny: Apparently, September is National Self Care Month. This should be a priority every month, but regardless this conjures images of cozy cardigans and sipping tea (and what’s not to love about both of these things). Recently we tackled how to gently ease off summer mode and into back to business, and now that we’re fully into the swing of it, we have the following Sunday self-care reading to recommend:
Simply getting outside more. We’ve talked about forest bathing and the effects of nature on your mental health and wellbeing, but water is apparently just as powerful. “Blue mind” refers to the positive mental benefits of spending time near water, which this article says might be the “secret of happiness.”
Goat yoga. This was news to at least one of us, but this practice exploded in 2017 as a new and unusual way of finding a moment of peace amid the hustle of regular life and connecting with others on a root level. Since then, goat yoga has spread all across the world with more than 500 goat yoga businesses currently up and running. The concept is simple: animal therapy combined with yoga, a relaxing and restorative practice, is a winning formula for mind and body. Oh and now, you can do yoga with piglets, too.
Control your mood through breathing. A quick story: we were in the NYC Amtrak holding pen last week and the guy running the show (who deserves a raise) was entertaining weary passengers with exuberant welcomes (“hello, young lady!” or “you was lost, but now you found!”) and mini TED talks. Among his many words of wisdom was that – when faced with something you can’t control, like a late train – most people let what they can’t control…control them. Try not to do that, and one easy way to take control of your mood is through breathing. Great story here on the various ways to do so (with illustrations) and also, how it’s an easy way to potentially help with hypertension.
